Supply Chain Resilience is a mindset.

Most supply chain teams focus on technologies and processes to improve resilience. It’s the right thing to do.

Resilience is also a mindset. Once this mindset is inculcated, team members can look at tweaking their day-to-day operations for improved resilience. It goes a long way in reducing firefighting incidents.

Let’s take an example. A factory is sending two trucks to an RDC, containing 20 skus. Most teams split the skus and send 10 skus in each truck. A better and more resilient way is to split the quantity of every sku into the two trucks.

How does it help? If one of the trucks meets with an accident or gets detained on the way, the second one will reach in time. All the skus will reach in this truck. If there was an urgent requirement, that would be met. No firefighting.

There are umpteen ways in which current operations can be tweaked to avoid possible firefighting.

Let’s inculcate the resilient mindset…
