Kudos to TMM organisers!
Tata Mumbai Marathon was a pleasure to participate in today morning. Though it’s a repetitive project, the organisers managed it beautifully through a judicious mix of process standardisation and a whole lot of consumer-focused improvements.
I have been a regular in the Half Marathon category. I was truly delighted by the infrastructure facilities at the starting point as well as in the post finish arena.
Much shorter queues at the entrance, enough QR code scanners to confirm runners, clean and adequate toilets, enough signs and volunteers to guide the runners. Medal and refreshment area post finish was also well managed with enough space, shorter queues and no outsiders!
I would consider it a benchmark for repetitive projects. Standardise what worked well and take consumer feedback on what put them off, especially the bottlenecks. All the shortcomings of last year were thoughtfully taken care of.
Let’s incorporate these learnings in managing repetitive Supply Chain and Operations projects.
