Weekly closure of warehouses disrupts flow.
Many companies have the practice of keeping their Regional Distribution Centres (RDC) and CFAs closed on a day every week. This results in disrupting seamless flow of goods as incoming consignments have to wait for unloading. It also delays shipment of orders coming from the downstream nodes. Both of these result in possible stockouts and need higher inventory buffers to protect it.
If you want to improve the service levels and bring down inventory levels simultaneously, try running the warehouses on all days of the week. It improves agility in the supply chain, besides better availability and freshness.
