Have you created inter-dependence with your supply chain partners?

For creating a sustainable and resilient supply chain, it is important that we create inter-dependence between various transacting supply chain partners. This aspect is, unfortunately, often ignored even in the best run supply chains.

Relationship between transacting partners should move from independent or dependent ones to an inter-dependent one, where both partners depend on each other in a meaningful way. While independent working creates co-ordination issues, relationship of dependence places negotiating power in the hands of one of the partners, which is detrimental in the long run.

If both partners depend on each other for their growth and profitability, it is a healthy relationship with focus on win-win ways of working. It may be difficult for some in a dominant position to give up control but creating inter-dependence in a deliberate manner is a far superior mode of working.
