Supply chains should adapt to the ever-changing market construct for survival.
Darwin’s Theory of Evolution explains very well why some organisms survive and thrive over millions of years while others perish when their surrounding environment undergoes a major shift. It’s not the strongest, nor the most intelligent, but the ones most adaptable to change survive.
The same theory is applicable to supply chains as well. Robust supply chains are the ones which adapt to the market changes pretty quickly. Their uncanny ability to spot the change, inherent flexibility in operations and speed of response keeps them fit and thriving under all circumstances.
These three capabilities of supply chains are really the key to adaptability.
