Supply Chain excellence is a habit.
Many companies are embarking on the journey of Supply Chain excellence. They look for customer pain areas, question their mindset and inherent assumptions, change their policies, redesign the processes, track new relevant metrics and have a review system in place to check if the process is working well. They also institute the Process of Ongoing Improvement (POOGI) to identify leverage points and exploit them continually.
All these actions are good and in the right direction. However, unless it becomes the default way of thinking and action by the team members, many of these changes are likely to regress to the earlier ways of working.
Converting these actions into habits requires the employees to have full buy-in into the changes and the reasons behind them. It also requires repetitive adherence to the new ways of working, especially in the initial phase.
Habit formation is an essential part of continued Supply Chain excellence!
