No, it’s not a spelling mistake. You probably thought I meant Déjà vu, which is a common phenomenon and refers to the feeling that some people, places and contexts appear very familiar even when we encounter them for the first time.
It’s a similar feeling when we see other companies’ supply chains and realize that the problems, challenges and solutions look quite familiar.
What we actually need is the opposite phenomenon, termed as Véjà du, which refers to seeing a familiar item as if it were new. For example, every time you visit the shop floor, do you see it from fresh eyes? If we remove the element of familiarity and watch it from an unbiased, fresh pair of eyes, we’ll identify so many new areas of possible improvement.
