Can Supply Chains win the race for consumer companies?
A lot has been written about the role of supply chain in getting a distinctive competitive edge. We also know that supply chains can often catalyse or break a new product launch.
What really differentiates the supply chain of a winning company from others?
In my opinion, the difference lies in agility. Agile supply chains sense the market continually, decipher early signals of a demand shift and adapt themselves to fulfil the demand, no matter whether the shift is small or large. I have seen winning supply chains fulfil bump in demand as high as 50 times, without cribbing that it wasn’t forecast!
Agile supply chains are quite comfortable with even demand disruptions, as they can adapt much faster than the competitors. It helps in capturing the additional demand generated during the small window of opportunity, gain market share, get new consumers and retain the old ones.
How is your agile supply chain journey progressing? Would love to hear from you…
