Are we improving our key Supply Chain capabilities?

The three key supply chain capabilities for improving product availability and freshness are:

  • How do we sense the emerging demand in the market and decipher its pattern at the granular level?
  • How fast can we respond to any significant demand shift?
  • Is the supply backend flexible to align with the emerging demand on an ongoing basis?

My experience in working with many companies suggests that most teams have a standard process of demand and supply planning, which considers these three key capabilities as static.

If our key supply chain capabilities are static, the performance will also be static. If we expect the system performance to improve, it’s just a wishful thinking!

Performance improvement in supply chain happens if we improve on at least one of these three capabilities. Do we have it on our agenda? Have we instituted the Process of Ongoing Improvement (POOGI) on these three key supply chain capabilities?

Would love to hear from you the efforts being taken in this direction…
