Breakthrough in Supply Chain performance requires a relook at its design.

Every Supply Chain team aspires for a breakthrough improvement in its performance. However, their initiatives are often centred around just tweaking the current processes and system parameters. In some cases, the focus is just on improving execution.

I am reminded of Deming who once said ‘Every system is perfectly designed to get the results it gets’. If you are looking for a breakthrough improvement in the Supply Chain performance, the current design is unlikely to lead to it.

We must have a relook at the Supply Chain design to make it consumer centric and leverage the system constraints and plant bottlenecks.
