Do you face occasional shortage of components on assembly lines?
Automotive companies are currently in a high demand scenario, where the system constraint is internal and is often the assembly line. It is important that, in such a scenario, the assembly line doesn’t face component shortage, as it would bring down throughput of the constraint.
The root cause of this problem is often the planning system, which plans demand, production and components on a monthly basis and converts it to daily schedules. Delays from vendors cause component shortage for the vehicles scheduled for today’s production.
