Supply chain teams are generally overwhelmed with so many improvement ideas on their plate. Where should they focus their efforts? Accuracy of their demand forecasts? Agility in supplies? Setting inventory targets at various nodes? Speed of their production lines? Faster delivery from vendors?

TOC provides an excellent framework for focusing company’s efforts. These should be on improving the performance of constraints and bottlenecks, which act as great leverage points. An improvement done on constraints and bottlenecks has a multiplier effect on the overall supply chain performance.
