Are we relying too much on data in Supply Chain diagnostics?
Supply chain professionals are, by and large, rational in their analysis. Their root cause analysis and improvement diagnostics are supported by data.
Is it enough? Are we ignoring intuition developed by people over many years of experience? Are we dismissing certain anecdotes as outliers just because these are not supported by data?
Jeff Bezos once said ‘When the data and the anecdotes disagree, the anecdotes are usually right.’
Some of the sharpest diagnostics in supply chain have come from the causal analysis of anecdotes. Look for these in your diagnostics journey.
