How high are your Supply Chain ambitions?

This is the time of the year when many Supply Chain teams set their ambitions for the coming year. I have seen the ambitions of many teams and tracked their performance over a period. The patterns are interesting.

A few teams just want to maintain their current performance level, expecting the performance improvement projects to be undertaken by either the Strategy team or the Business Excellence team. Such teams either stagnate or decline in performance.

On the other hand, there are a few teams who set quite ambitious targets, which exposes the current limitations and obstacles. They end up redesigning their policies, processes, and practices, taking full responsibility for the performance improvement. These teams may not achieve their ambitious targets but end up with a substantial improvement in performance.
