Is it necessary to make the Supply Chain more agile?
I have been nudging companies to improve agility of their supply chains. While more progressive ones have understood and started working on it, a few leading companies still feel that the past ways of working have served them well, there is no need to change.
I love the quote attributed to Deming… ‘It is not necessary to change. Survival is not mandatory.’
Supply Chain teams resisting agility do realize that their more nimble and agile competitors are quick to capitalize on certain emerging opportunities, while the leaders are tied down by their old processes. We have witnessed this scenario play out in every industry.
Teams clinging on to the conventional ways of running their supply chains are actually putting their company’s long term survival at stake.
What do you feel? Would love to hear from you…
