Thank you, Murphy for making our supply chains more robust.
Supply chain professionals have endeavored to make their supply chains robust to handle various disruptions experienced from time to time. The pandemic has, however, exposed several gaps in robustness in terms of demand sensing, vendor reliability, manufacturing flexibility and distribution responsiveness. Why is that?
The process to improve supply chain robustness starts with Potential Problem Analysis… what could go wrong? It helps in improving the relevant processes to enable them to handle such potential problems, should they materialize. However, we rarely put these mitigation measures to real life testing.
Murphy brings such potential problems to life in a random and sudden manner. If our mitigation strategies were well crafted and executed in time, we would survive. Else we learn where we need to further improve these processes.
In the absence of Murphy, we would never really know whether improving robustness is just on paper or it would work when the need arises. Murphy helps us in testing it.
Thank you, Murphy!
