Go with the flow.

The market forces at play are generally stronger than what individual companies can influence, especially when it comes to shaping industry habits and choices.

In such cases, it is mostly futile to resist the trend, especially when it comes to designing the supply chain. It is better to leverage the current trend and exploit it at the leverage points.

Take automation, digitisation, robotics or AI for example. Resisting it is not going to help. We should actively look out for specific instances where these trends will help us manage our leverage points better. And then go all out to exploit it for that specific application.

At the same time, we should be careful not to just follow the herd, but use it selectively and judiciously, at the leverage points.
