Focus on one change at a time to improve Supply Chains.

Supply Chain teams often get overwhelmed by just the number of changes they need to make to implemented Demand Driven Supply Chain. The inertia takes over and the initiative fails to start.

My experience suggests that we should start with one change at a time. If we know where the constraint is, we should use the leverage point.

If the constraint is demand and we have issues in fulfilling it, we should start with how demand is defined. Is it our sales? Or customer orders? Or customer sales? Tweaking the definition of demand, to make it consumer driven, makes a big difference.

Once the demand definition is set right, we can move to frequency of planning and execution.

I have found a series of small changes to be more easily assimilated by the teams than a big bang approach.
