Are you settling for mediocrity?
I know it sounds a bit harsh, but the fact is that most supply chain leaders aim for only a marginal improvement in their supply chain effectiveness. If the customer order fill rate is 85%, they would set a goal to improve it to 86% or 87%. I haven’t come across leaders who would like to take it to 95%+.
If we aim for marginal improvements, we will end up with only minor tweaking of existing processes and parameters. Real improvements come when we try to understand the limitations which cause 15% of customer orders getting missed for want of stocks. Removing these limitations would lead to breakthrough improvements.
Would strongly suggest everyone to have a relook at the goals and make it ambitious so that the bigger issues are surfaced and solved.
