Supply Chain transformation is an art.
Supply chain transformation projects deal with large scale changes to the underlying processes to make them consumer focused, collaborative, flexible and responsive. Employees working on these projects find it overwhelming to make so many changes in a short period of time. If the employees are not emotionally involved in the project, we are unlikely to get the full potential benefits.
Some companies focus more on employee involvement and end up implementing only certain aspects of the transformation at a time. However, they run the risk of certain changes not being fully aligned to the overall transformation objective.
In my opinion, we should think through the entire supply chain transformation in one go and implement it in phases to get full employee involvement. This would ensure that all the changes are aligned to the overall direction of solution. We should also refrain from making other changes which are not in the direction of the solution.
