‘Freezing’ reduces our ability to respond in time.
We often hear of companies freezing the demand forecast for a month. No changes allowed.
We also hear of frozen production plans. No changes in the next 10 days.
Every time we freeze an important supply chain process, we lose the ability to respond in time.
If the demand shifts, we must change the demand outlook. We must also change the production plan and the procurement plan.
Fast response is an essential characteristic of an agile supply chain. Let’s not compromise it. Attack any frozen parameter and make it responsive to demand changes.
