How do you navigate speed breakers?
Anyone who loves driving would have found his own way of navigating speed breakers en route. A speed breaker, well navigated, closes the distance from the car in front of you and increases the distance from the car following you.
It’s the same in business. There would be market obstacles coming our way which affect performance of our supply chain. The way we tackle these obstacles decides whether we move ahead of the competition or fall behind.
There are essentially four parameters which control our performance on speed breakers – the timing and extent of braking before it, and the timing and extent of acceleration after it.
We must remember the speed breaker example while navigating the next supply chain disruption. When to apply brakes and how much? When to start accelerating and by how much?
Fine tuning these four parameters would ensure that we come out much stronger in the new normal.
